In the ELL classroom, we cover the AZ ELD (English Language Development) standards in Listening & Speaking, Vocabulary, Reading, Writing & Grammar. Each student receives an ILLP (Individual Language Learner Plan) based upon his/her individual language needs.
My teaching career began in Roswell, NM as a substitute teacher. Once my husband was transferred to the Phoenix market for his job, I enrolled at Mesa Community College to become fully certified with an ESL Endorsement. I graduated from ASU in 2001 and began teaching 3rd Grade in Apache Junction in the fall. After one year in Apache Junction, I began teaching 1st Grade in Phoenix. I taught there for four years before finding my teaching home in Gilbert. I enjoy teaching students the English language and to see them succeed in the mainstream classroom once they have exited the ELL program.
