I look forward to this year and the opportunity that Gilbert Public Schools has given me to teach your child. I know we will have so much fun as we experience all the new exciting adventures that go with being a kindergartner. I want our communication to be open, as I feel that it is vital to the well being of your child. So, please feel free to contact me with any concerns, questions or news that is happening in your child’s life. Together, I know that we can provide a successful and rewarding first year in school for your child.
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your child’s Kindergarten teacher. I have three children that are all Greenfield Gator graduates, each of them attended from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Currently, my youngest children Devin and Delaney attend Gilbert Classical Academy (GCA) and are in 9th grade and 11th grade. My oldest son, Justen graduated from GCA and is in his second year at Grand Canyon University. Last but not least, I have been married to my wonderful husband Brian for twenty two years.
I attended Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Communications. After being in the business world for a few years I started working at a distance learning company that provided educational programming via satellite. As a studio manager, I loved to hear the voices of children asking questions to the person in the studio. Wanting to make more of a difference in the lives of children, I decided to go back to school at University of Phoenix and obtain my teaching certificate. I found myself doing my student teaching when Justen was only three months old. Knowing that teaching would be very demanding, I decided not to teach at that time and stayed home with my son. I was blessed to be able to stay home and raise my three children until they attended school and had waited for the day when I would return to the classroom. That day happened ten years ago when I was offered a position at Greenfield in Kindergarten. Since then I have obtained my Masters Degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Specialist certification. I also hold an English as a Second Language Endorsement and a Early Childhood Endorsement.
As far as hobbies and interests, I love anything outdoors, as long as it isn’t too hot. Therefore, my summers are spent mostly up at the cabin in Pinetop. I also love to go boating, especially at Lake Powel. My family loves animals, which is apparent by the two horses, rabbit, chickens, cat, golden retriever, three African Spurred tortoises, and salt water fish that we enjoy in our home.
